What you're actually reading
An aura reading is the practice of noticing the impressions a person gives off — mood, tension, warmth, guardedness — and giving them language. Some readers experience this as colour, others as temperature, texture or a single word that arrives unbidden. All of these count. What matters is consistency, not drama.
You already do a rough version of this. You know within seconds of entering a room whether an argument just ended. Aura reading is that same sense, practised deliberately.
Step 1 — Set the conditions
- Soft, even light. Avoid harsh tube lights and direct sun.
- A plain, pale background — a cream or white wall works best.
- Phone silenced and out of the room.
- Ten minutes you won't be interrupted in. Early morning is easiest.
Step 2 — Settle your own state first
You cannot read clearly through your own agitation. Do four rounds of 4-7-8 breathing: inhale four, hold seven, exhale eight. Then let your shoulders drop and unclench your jaw. The reading begins only once your body is quiet.
Step 3 — Soften your gaze
Hold one hand up against the pale wall, fingers spread. Now look past your hand, focusing about 30 cm behind it, so your hand is slightly out of focus. Hold this for 30–60 seconds without blinking hard. Most people first notice a thin, clear or hazy band outlining the fingers. Colour impressions usually follow later.
Step 4 — Record the first impression, not the second
The first thing that arrives is the reading. The second is your mind explaining it. Write down, in this order:
- The first colour or shade that came to mind.
- A temperature — warm, cool, neutral.
- A texture — smooth, jagged, dense, thin.
- One word for the overall feeling.
Step 5 — Interpret it as a signal, not a verdict
Match your notes against the meaning of each colour, then ask the only question that matters: what in my life this week does this describe? A jagged red impression on a week you're pushing a deadline isn't a mystery — it's a signal to move your body and protect your sleep.
Quick reference
- Gold / yellow — confidence, momentum, mental sharpness.
- Blue — calm, honesty, clear communication.
- Green — balance, healing, openness in relationships.
- Purple — intuition, creativity, introspection.
- Red — drive and vitality; if jagged, stress or restlessness.
- White / clear — transition, a fresh start, a clean slate.
Reading someone else's aura
Ask permission first — always. Have the person stand against a pale wall two metres away. Repeat steps 2 to 4 while looking just past their shoulders and head. Then share what you noticed as an observation, never a diagnosis: "I'm picking up something restless around the shoulders — does that match your week?" Let them confirm or correct you.
Common beginner mistakes
- Trying too hard. Straining the eyes blocks the impression. Soften, don't stare.
- Practising when agitated. You'll read your own state, not theirs.
- Over-interpreting. One reading is a snapshot. Look for patterns across two weeks.
- Chasing colour. If you sense texture or temperature instead, that's a valid reading.
- Skipping the journal. Without notes you can't see the pattern, and the pattern is the point.
A two-week practice plan
- Days 1–4: steps 1–3 only. Just the outline. No interpretation.
- Days 5–9: add step 4. Four notes each day, nothing more.
- Days 10–14: add step 5, and read back your fortnight of notes for repeats.
