What is reiki healing?
Reiki healing is a gentle relaxation practice in which a trained practitioner rests their hands lightly on — or just above — the body in a set sequence, while you lie still, fully clothed, and breathe. There is no massage, no oils, no manipulation and no medication. A session usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes.
The word comes from Japanese: rei (universal) and ki (life energy). The practice was formalised by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920s and reached India through wellness and yoga circles decades later. What people actually get from it is simple and real: an hour in which the body is finally allowed to stop bracing.

A session, step by step
- Intake (5–10 min). What has been draining you lately, and what you want from the hour.
- Settling (5 min). Lying or seated, fully clothed, with slow guided breathing.
- The work (30–40 min). Hands held in position by position, head to feet, in silence.
- Return (5 min). Slow reorientation, water, and a moment before you speak.
- Feedback. What the practitioner noticed and two or three practices for the week.
What it helps with
- Sleep that has been broken for weeks
- Burnout and the flat, over-extended feeling that follows it
- Anxiety that lives in the chest and shoulders
- Grief, transitions and the recovery period after a hard year
Reiki is complementary wellness support, not medical treatment, and should never delay proper medical or mental-health care.
How much does reiki healing cost in India?
Prices vary widely by city and by how established the practitioner is. These are the ranges you will typically be quoted in 2026:
- Online session: ₹500 – ₹2,500 for 45–60 minutes.
- In person, metro city: ₹1,500 – ₹4,000 per session.
- In person, smaller city: ₹800 – ₹2,000 per session.
- Package of 3–5 sessions: usually 10–20% below the single-session rate.
- Reiki Level 1 attunement course: ₹3,000 – ₹12,000 depending on the teacher.
A very high price is not evidence of skill, and a very low one is not evidence of a scam. What matters more: the price is published before you book, the practitioner explains what the hour includes, and nobody pushes you into a long package on the first call. At Heal with Kiran, online sessions are listed openly from ₹500 — see the online session page for what each tier covers.
Does reiki healing actually work?
Honest answer: reiki is not a proven medical treatment, and no responsible practitioner will tell you it cures disease. What it reliably does is put you in a still, warm, undisturbed state for an hour with someone paying full attention to you — and for people running on adrenaline for months, that alone changes sleep, breathing and mood noticeably.
Most people notice something after the first session and more by the second or third. If you feel nothing at all after three sessions, that is useful information too — a different approach, such as breathwork or an aura reading with a written plan, may suit you better.
Reiki vs other energy work
Reiki vs pranic healing
Reiki uses light touch and a fixed sequence; pranic healing works entirely off the body in condition-specific protocols.
Reiki vs chakra balancing
Reiki treats the whole system for general relaxation; chakra work targets one specific centre and gives you homework for it.
Reiki vs aura reading
Reiki is mostly experiential; an aura reading is more diagnostic and returns a plan you act on during the week.
